Path to Glory: A Portrait of the Benildean Athlete,

Exhibited first at the SDA Campus in January 2017, ‘Path to Glory’ was one of the first projects of the then-new Center for Campus Art. The show is dedicated to the Benildean athlete and was a project with the CPRM (Center for Partnership and Resource Management) of the Office of the VP for Advancement and Smart Communications. It is now permanently installed at the newly opened Sports and Dorm Building of the College of Saint Benilde.

The photos were taken by Miguel Sy, a graduate, and faculty of Benilde’s AB Photography program. Miguel presents the athletes as bodies in space, dramatically lit amidst cavernous courts, expansive stadiums, and long pools. Vulnerable and small against the architecture of their daily toil, the compositions illustrate the physical and psychological discipline demanded of them to become a champion.
